Room to guide a horse on the ground

A lead rope gives you a working connection to the halter for ordinary leading and groundwork. The extra length needs managing in your hand rather than being left where it can tangle around feet. Choose a lead you can hold comfortably and use deliberately, with enough attention left for the horse and the route through the yard. Color coordination is secondary to that practical job.

Check the snap before setting off

Clip to a properly fitted halter and confirm that the snap has closed. Carry spare rope without wrapping it around your hand or arm. Stand beside the horse as you lead, rather than walking directly in front of it. Look over the rope and its attachment for wear during routine tack checks, and replace damaged gear. Keep the lead organized in storage so a loop is not left trailing across a barn aisle.
