Country Charm Collar

A collar earns its keep on the days it gets wet, dragged through brush, and hung on the same hook every night. Russet harness leather gives it a well-worn look and feel from day one. The copper upholstery leather overlay and copper spots give it an old-soul cast, and the floral and scroll embroidery is stitched in earth tones rather than loud ones.

The collar is one inch wide. Size it by length: run a tape around the neck, leave room for a couple of fingers, and pick from there. It's the collar you put on and forget about until somebody asks where you got it.

Good to know

• Take the neck measurement with a soft tape and order by length, leaving room for two fingers under the strap.
• Wipe off mud and manure while it's damp, then let the leather air dry away from a heater or direct sun.
• Work a little leather conditioner in a couple times a year to keep the harness leather supple and the overlay from drying out.
• Brush grit off the copper spots and embroidery before conditioning so you don't grind it into the stitching.
