A dee ring snaffle puts direct pressure on the horse, so a cue gets an answer instead of a discussion. That makes it a sensible bit for everyday riding and for a horse that needs a clear, straightforward signal.

The 5" mouth is copper plated, and copper encourages salivation, which helps keep a mouth soft rather than dry and braced. The dees measure 2-7/8", and stainless steel means the bit comes out of the tack room looking the way it went in, ride after ride.

Highlights

  • Copper plated mouth encourages salivation for a softer mouth
  • Direct pressure for a faster, clearer response
  • 2-7/8" dees

Good to know

  • Check the cheek pieces on your bridle so the bit sits level and even in the mouth.
  • Wipe the copper mouth dry after a ride and rinse off sweat and hay dust before it goes back on the bridle.
  • Keep a spare dee ring bit in the tack room so a broken bridle or a change of horse doesn't cost you a riding day.
  • If you're stuck between two bits, bring your horse's bridle in and compare them, or ask a trainer you trust.

Hang one on the bridle and keep a straight, no-nonsense bit ready in the tack room.
