A curb strap does its work quietly, under the chin, every time you ride. This single-ply strap is 5/8 inch wide and cut from russet harness leather that is weather-resistant, so it holds up through wet springs and dusty summers. Nickel-plated hardware finishes it off with a clean look that suits most western bridles.
Keep a spare in the tack room. When the old strap cracks, stretches or loses a bit of hardware, a new one gets your bridle back in working order before the next ride.

How to use it
Run the strap through the curb hooks on your bit, set it in the chin groove, and buckle it snug enough to hold the bit in place without pinching. Check the fit after the first few rides, and replace the strap if the leather cracks or the hardware works loose.
Good to know
Russet pairs well with brown and mahogany tack. Wipe off sweat and mud after each ride and condition the leather now and then to keep it supple through the season.
Pick up a spare this week, before the busy riding season, so a worn strap doesn't keep you off the trail.
