Single-Ply Slobber Straps

Slobber straps catch the wear that would otherwise go into your mecate. These are cut from a single ply of leather with smoothed edges, and the 3/4 inch holes let you slide your mecate through with no fuss.

At 2 inches wide and 18 inches long, they fold to 9 inches. Good on a colt in a bosal or on a using horse getting ridden every day.

• Run the mecate through the 3/4 inch holes and knot it so the strap takes the rubbing instead of the rein.
• Wipe off sweat and dirt after a ride and work a little leather conditioner in now and then to keep them supple.
• Pair them with a rawhide bosal and a mecate for a traditional set up that feels right in the hand.
• Keep a spare pair in the rigging bag so a worn strap never cuts a ride short.
