Riding jeans have two jobs: hold still in the saddle, and look right once you are off the horse. The Shiloh is built for both. The low rise sits above the hip for an easy seat, and the no-gap waistband expands as you move, so the back of the jean stays where it belongs when you lean, reach and swing up.

Flat comfort seams cut down on chafe on long days, and the cotton, polyester and spandex blend moves with you from the first ride to the last chore. The bootcut leg drops clean over a riding boot. Double embroidery on both back pockets gives the jean a finished look when you step down from the horse and head to town.

Highlights

  • No-gap waistband that expands as you move
  • Flat comfort seams for less chafe on long days
  • Low rise that sits above the hip
  • Bootcut leg that drops over a riding boot
  • Double embroidery on both back pockets
  • Cotton, polyester and spandex blend that moves with you

Why a low rise and a no-gap waistband work in the saddle

A gap at the back waistband is the first thing a rider notices, because it shows up every time you sit. A no-gap cut fits closer through the back of the waist, so the jean stays put instead of sliding down when you lean forward.

A low rise sits lower on the body than a high-waisted cut. That leaves the waist free when you are seated and lets a belt sit where it should. Pair it with a bootcut leg and the jean clears the boot without bunching.

A cotton, polyester and spandex blend gives you the feel of denim with a little movement. Cotton keeps the fabric comfortable, polyester helps it hold its shape, and spandex lets the seat move with you. It suits weekend riders, working ranch women and anyone who wants one pair for the barn and for town.

How to use it

  • Try them on, then sit, bend and step up the way you would at the mounting block. A riding jean should feel right when you are seated.
  • Check the back waistband when you sit. A no-gap cut should stay close without pinching.
  • Stretch blends settle a little with wear, so a snug fit in the fitting room usually eases in after a few days. Give them a day or two before you decide.
  • Because the rise is low, wear your usual belt when you try them on to check the look.

Good to know

  • Wear them with a broken-in riding boot and a tucked-in shirt for the arena, then head straight to town without changing.
  • A fitted Western shirt or a plain tee tucked in keeps the low rise and the belt in view. A belt with a simple buckle keeps the look clean.
  • To size a belt, run a tape through the loops of the jeans you will wear it with and add about two inches.
  • Wash them inside out in cold water and hang them to dry. That keeps the finish even and helps the stretch hold its shape through repeat wear.
