Austin Flat Sliding Ear Headstall

This is a headstall for the rider who wants a showy look without babying it. The flat sliding ear keeps the look clean, while the floral-engraved hardware and etched nickel brass spots catch the eye from the rail.

It is made from 5/8 inch English bridle leather with smoothed, darkened edges and precise stitching, and black chrome tanned laces finish the bit ends. Put it on your everyday horse for a ride or dress up your show string.

At a glance

Good to know

• Wipe the leather down after a dusty ride and condition it now and then so it stays supple.
• Check the bit-end laces before each ride and replace them when they start to fray.
• Hang it on a headstall hook or padded rack so the ear piece does not crease.
• Pair it with a leather breast collar and split reins for a matched Western look.

If you want a showy headstall that can still handle a Tuesday ride, put this one on the hook.
