Give your livestock one long, steady place to eat or drink. This bunk feeder is built from 100% heavy-duty poly with UV protection, so it won't rust and it holds up to sun and rain. Set it up in the pen, the lot or the back pasture and it stays put, ready for the next round of chores.

The walls are steep and the trough is 14 inches deep, which keeps feed inside where animals can reach it and cuts down on the scatter you get from shallow troughs. The 1 1/4 inch drain plug lets you empty and rinse the trough when it's time to clean, so you aren't tipping a heavy trough by hand.

Highlights

  • 100% heavy-duty poly construction
  • UV protection, and it will not rust
  • Steep walls keep feed inside
  • 1 1/4 inch drain plug for easy cleaning
  • Works for small and large animals

Why a bunk feeder beats a pile on the ground

A bunk feeder gives a group of animals a shared trough they can reach at the same time. Hay or feed scattered on the ground gets trampled, rained on and dragged through manure. Lifting it off the dirt keeps more of it clean and more of it eaten.

The depth matters when the feed is loose. Pellets, grain and chopped forage stay in the trough when an animal grabs a mouthful, and the steep walls keep the feed from being pawed out onto the ground. You spend less time sweeping up and more time with the herd.

It's also a water station. A poly trough won't rust, so it stays clean-looking through a wet season. Set one along the fence line where the whole group can get to it without crowding.

Plan the spot first. The feeder weighs 30 pounds, so pick the place before you set it, and choose firm, level ground where the legs won't sink.

How to use it

Set it up on firm ground and fill it:

  1. Attach the legs with two bolts per leg before you fill the trough.
  2. Place the feeder on level ground, away from gates where animals push and crowd.
  3. Fill it with feed or water, then check the level every day and top it up before it runs low.
  4. Open the drain plug when you clean it, rinse the trough out, and close the plug before the next fill.

Good to know

  • Put a rubber mat under the spot if your ground stays wet, so the trough sits on something firm.
  • Empty any spoiled feed before you refill. Damp, moldy feed is the fastest way to waste a batch.
  • Check the legs and bolts when you clean the feeder so it stays steady.

One trough in each pen keeps the daily routine simple and the animals fed without a line.
