Mud season, show morning, or a horse that found the one wet spot in the pasture: a stiff brush does the heavy lifting before a soft brush ever touches him. Stiff synthetic rice root bristles trimmed to 2 inches dig into dried dirt and caked mud and flick it loose instead of smearing it down the coat.

The synthetic block runs 8-1/2 inches long and 2-3/8 inches wide, so you get a full hand's worth of grip on a durable brush that earns its spot as the first one you grab.

Highlights

  • Stiff synthetic rice root bristles lift dried mud fast
  • 2 in trim digs into caked dirt
  • 8-1/2 in block
  • 2-3/8 in width sits well in your hand
  • Durable synthetic block

Good to know

  • Work the stiff brush in short strokes with the hair, then follow with a soft brush to lay the coat down and lift the dust.
  • Knock the brush against a fence post after use, and wash it in a bucket and dry it bristles down so water doesn't sit in the block.
  • Keep one in the barn and one in the trailer. The stiff brush is the one you reach for first after turnout.

Worth having two, one for the barn and one for the trailer, so the mud comes off where you find it.
