A leave-in coat conditioner mixed in water and sponged over the coat after bathing.
A leave-in step after the bath
Rehydrinse is a diluted coat conditioner applied after washing, then left in rather than rinsed away. Shampoo loosens dirt during washing; this solution stays on the coat as it dries. Prepare the gallon batch separately from rinse water so the conditioner is not diluted before application. The conditioner is intended for the coat, not as a wash that removes dirt or shampoo residue. Its hydrating formula helps protect the coat against dehydration. It is also intended to revive a dull coat after shampooing.
Choose the mix for the job
Use one-half to one ounce per gallon. For the post-shampoo bath routine, mix one ounce in a gallon of water. Keep the concentrate in its bottle until the bucket is ready, then measure the amount into clean water and mix. This makes the concentration predictable across the body and avoids applying a patch of undiluted conditioner. If you are preparing only a smaller amount, keep the same ratio rather than guessing by eye.
Work by coat area
Sponge the solution over the coat. The post-bath routine covers the body, legs and head. Work one area at a time, renewing the sponge in the bucket so the solution reaches the coat evenly. Leave it in place after application. Sweat-scraping or air-drying follows the post-bath sequence; there is no final rinse for Rehydrinse. Keep a separate rinse bucket nearby for the earlier wash step so you do not dilute the conditioner before applying it.
What is in the formula
The formula contains hydrolyzed wheat protein and almond oil. Hydrolyzed wheat protein supports shine and hair manageability, while almond oil helps repair the skin and coat while contributing a silky feel. The formula is non-greasy and not slick. That matters when choosing a leave-in product for a horse that will be ridden after grooming: the finish is intended to condition without leaving a slippery surface. The scent is citrus-based.
