A horse that cribs will find the fence, the gate or the stall door, and a cribbing strap is the tool horsemen reach for. This one is cut from 1" russet harness leather, a tough leather made for working tack.

The cribbing bar is aluminum, which keeps the strap light on a horse wearing it for hours at a stretch, and the hardware is nickel plated to stand up to a working barn. Buckle it on for turnout, take it off when he comes in, and wipe it down now and then so the leather stays supple.

Highlights

  • 1" russet harness leather
  • Lightweight aluminum cribbing bar keeps it easy to wear
  • Nickel plated hardware built for daily barn use
  • Buckles on and off quickly for turnout and stall time

Good to know

  • Wipe the leather down after a sweaty day and let it dry away from direct heat so it stays soft and doesn't crack.
  • A little saddle soap every few weeks keeps harness leather supple and keeps the buckle running smooth.
  • Check the fit when you put it on, then check it again after a few days, since new leather gives a little as it breaks in.

Keep one hung by the stall door so it's on before he finds the fence.
