Hoof Pick

A hoof pick earns its place in the grooming kit every day, and this one puts the metal pick and a hoof brush on the same tool. Dig the packed mud and manure out of the sole with the pick, then sweep the hoof clean with the brush. One tool, one hand, and the cleaning is done.

The handle is plastic and the pick is metal. Keep one by the stall door and another in the trailer so you are never picking a hoof with whatever is handy.

Highlights

• Metal pick digs out packed mud and manure
• Hoof brush sweeps the sole clean
• Pick and brush on one tool

At a glance

Good to know

• Use the pick first, then the brush, so the sole comes out clean.
• Rinse the pick and brush after a muddy day and let them dry before they go back in the bucket.
• Keep a spare in the trailer so you can clean a hoof at the show without hunting for a tool.

Grab one next time you are in and keep it where your hand falls on it.
