A plush Billy Goat tug toy with a stuffed head and tail for gripping, shaking, squeaking, and snuggling.

A plush tug with two clear grips

The Large Fat Tail Billy Goat is a 9-inch plush dog toy. Its head and tail have stuffing that gives the dog two ends to grip during tug. The soft body can also be carried between games or kept nearby during a quiet break. The Fat Tail is sold as one toy; the dog and person take opposite ends rather than needing a separate rope or ball. The 9-inch size gives the dog a longer plush body to hold than a small ball, while the filled ends provide the two tug grips. Before play, check that the toy fits the dog’s mouth and can be held without forcing a wide bite.

The squeak has a specific trigger

The squeaking assembly sounds when both ends are pulled at the same time. That makes a steady two-ended pull the relevant play motion. Pull one end while holding the other, then ease the tension if the dog lets go. The toy also suits short shake or toss games, but the squeak should not be described as a response to shaking alone. Keep the play area open so the dog can move without catching the plush on furniture.

Make tug easy to pause

Use a brief tug bout, then pause with the toy still and invite a release before starting again. If the dog keeps hold, trade for another toy or a treat rather than pulling harder. A two-toy trade can give the dog a clear reason to release and reset the game. Keep the activity calm enough that hands stay on the opposite end, away from the dog’s mouth. The plush shape works for close interactive play, not a long-distance throw.

A soft finish after active play

The stuffed head and tail give the dog a larger place to carry the toy after tug. When the game ends, put it down for supervised quiet time or remove it if the dog starts chewing through seams. Check the stitching and filled ends during play. For a dog that tends to shred plush toys, keep the Fat Tail in an interactive session and switch to a safer independent activity when you cannot watch.
