A small handle ball with a treat chamber for supervised stuffing, carrying, bouncing, and fetch.
Start with an easy reward
The 4-inch Tug-n-Toss Mini has a chamber for a small snack. Put a treat near the opening so the dog can find it quickly, then move it farther inside after a successful try. Keep the treat loose enough to come back out. The dog can nose, paw or roll the toy to work toward the reward, creating a short food-search activity between play sessions. If the dog cannot get a treat out, make the next round easier by returning it near the opening. The aim is steady exploration, not frustration or hard biting. Use a snack that fits the chamber and the dog’s normal feeding routine.
Use the molded handle
The handle is part of the ball, not a separate rope. It gives the dog a pickup point and gives a person a place to hold while filling or retrieving the toy. For fetch, let the dog bring it back by the handle, then pause before another toss. The handle is also useful for a gentle toss because it offers a clear pickup point after the ball lands. Keep throws low and nearby while the dog learns to carry it back.
Switch from puzzle to chase
The Mini can move from treat search to rolling or bounce once the chamber is empty. Those are different jobs: food work when the dog wants a focused task, then movement when it is ready to chase. Keep the play area clear and check that the 4-inch size suits the dog. A short roll is a useful first try before adding a bounce. For a dog that prefers searching to chasing, skip the toss and let the Mini stay on the floor. For a dog that enjoys movement, remove the food first so the next roll is a clean fetch game.
A molded ball with a chamber and handle
The ball-shaped body combines a treat chamber with a molded handle. Change one puzzle detail at a time, such as moving the reward farther from the opening, so the dog can learn how to release it. Remove crumbs after use and check the opening and handle for damage.
