Your dog goes where you go, so the bowl should come along. The KD-138 is compact enough for the truck, the trailer, the tack room or a camping kit, and it works for food or water at home or on the road.

The two-piece design lets you set up the bowl the way the day calls for. Fill the outer reservoir with water and the setup helps create a barrier around the inner bowl that slows ants down. It's a good fit for summer feeding on the patio or the barn aisle, where ants show up fast.

Highlights

  • Food or water in one simple bowl
  • Two-piece design for flexible setup
  • Water-filled outer reservoir helps create an ant barrier
  • Compact for trucks, trailers and camp
  • Easy to keep one at home and one on the road

Why a travel bowl belongs in every truck

Most dog bowls stay at home, and then the dog goes without water on the road. A bowl this compact stays in the truck, the trailer or a camping kit, so it's ready when the stop comes up.

The ant barrier is the reason many people pick this style over a plain bowl. Ants are drawn to food and spilled water, and a moat of water around the inner bowl makes many of them turn back. It doesn't stop every ant, which is why the caution below matters, but it helps keep the trail off the food.

Who it suits: dogs that ride along to the barn, the job site or the campground. It's also a good second bowl at home. A dog that eats outdoors gets dirt, spills and bugs, so a bowl you can rinse and refill in seconds is the easy choice.

How to use it

Set up the bowl and the water barrier this way:

  1. Separate the inner bowl from the outer base.
  2. For the ant barrier, add water to the outer reservoir. Use enough to make a ring around the inner bowl, but don't overfill it.
  3. Place the inner bowl in the outer section and make sure the whole setup sits level.
  4. Add food or water to the inner bowl.
  5. Clean both pieces regularly and refresh the standing water.

Good to know

  • Keep the bowl level on a flat surface. A tilted bowl lets the reservoir water slop out and breaks the barrier.
  • Refresh the reservoir water every day or two, and whenever it looks dusty or dirty.
  • Keep one bowl at home and one in the truck, so the travel bowl is never the one that's missing.
  • Store dog food in a sealed container, since open food draws ants no matter what's in the bowl.
  • Wash the bowl in warm soapy water and rinse it well so no film builds up in the corners.

A dog bowl goes wherever the dog does, so the one in the truck should be the one you never have to search for.
