Fruit preserver for helping limit browning and retain color in prepared fruit.

Preserve fruit color

Fresh Fruit Preserver is a dry blend used to help preserve fruit color and flavor and reduce browning. It can be used with cut fruit, in syrup for canning or in a sugar mixture for freezing. Each use has its own measurement, so choose the matching directions instead of applying one general amount to every batch.

A shaker for small portions

The six-ounce shaker bottle is convenient for preparing a bowl of sliced fruit or treating fruit before a recipe. It can also be kept with canning supplies for larger batches. The ingredient list includes sugar along with acids used for color retention. Review the current label when ingredients matter for dietary planning.

Choose the storage route

Fresh fruit served soon, canned fruit and frozen fruit have different preparation needs. Decide where the fruit is going before measuring the preserver. The product can help protect color, but it does not provide a canning recipe or determine processing. For canned fruit, use a tested recipe for the fruit, syrup, jar and process.

Measure for the intended use

Follow the printed directions for the selected method. A water solution for peeled fruit uses a different amount from a sprinkle over a cup of fresh slices or an addition to syrup. Keep the shaker closed and dry between uses. When preserving, use the full recipe and current Extension or USDA guidance for packing and processing.

A practical fit

The preserver is useful during a busy harvest when several fruits are being peeled or sliced before cooking. It can help keep prepared fruit looking brighter while the cook completes the recipe. Use separate clean containers for each method, and do not return used solution to the shaker or package. Follow the current label for preparation and storage of any unused product.

For the pantry

The directions differ for fruit served fresh, packed in syrup or frozen. Choose the fresh-use, syrup or freezer directions according to how the prepared fruit will be served or stored. Keep the measuring spoon dry and return the cap after use.
