A noseband takes the brunt of a horse that leans, rubs or fusses, so it pays to hang one that keeps its shape. This one is cut from oiled Hermann Oak russet harness leather, dipped in oil, dressed with saddle butter and hand rubbed, so it feels worked in from the first ride and is built for long-lasting work.

The build is straightforward and strong: a 1 inch noseband, a 1/2 inch crown strap and non-rust stainless steel hardware. Put it on the bridle you use most and it will still be the one you reach for after a season of pasture gates, trailer hauls and long afternoons in the sun.

Highlights

  • Handcrafted ProTack from Hermann Oak russet harness leather
  • Dipped in oil and dressed with saddle butter for a broken-in feel
  • Non-rust stainless steel hardware that shrugs off sweat and wash water
  • 1 inch noseband and 1/2 inch crown strap for a clean, balanced bridle
  • Hand rubbed finish that feels smooth in your hand and on your horse

Good to know

  • Wipe off sweat and dust after each ride, and work in a light coat of leather conditioner now and then to keep the leather supple.
  • Run your thumb over the buckle and keepers before you mount up. Stainless will not rust, but a loose keeper still needs snugging.
  • Hang it flat or rolled loosely in the tack room, away from the heater or direct sun that dries leather out.
  • Keep a spare noseband in the trailer box so a broken strap does not end a show day.

Hang one on your everyday bridle and keep another in the tack room for the day the old one gives out.
