A feeder earns its spot when it keeps feed in the dish instead of on the ground. This one has a built-in feed-saver ring that catches the spill when birds scratch and crowd, so less of the feed you bought ends up in the bedding.
It's made for the backyard flock, from impact-resistant plastic that won't rust or corrode, so it holds up through wet weather and regular cleaning. The one-piece jar and ring go together quickly. The included lid keeps rain and dust out of the feed, and the carrying handle makes it easy to move the feeder to the coop, the run or the brooder.

Why a feed-saver ring is worth having
Chickens are not shy about feed. They scratch it out of open dishes and toss it with their beaks, so a plain dish loses more feed than most people expect. A ring around the feeding area catches the feed that would otherwise scatter, and that adds up over a season.
A lid matters too. Feed that gets rained on molds and loses its appeal, while feed kept dry stays fresh. A covered feeder also keeps droppings and debris from landing in the feed. A hanging feeder keeps feed out of the litter, and a feeder set on the ground is easy for younger birds to reach. Choose the setup that fits your coop.
This feeder suits a few hens or a small mixed group in the run or coop. Place it where every bird can reach the ring without a shove, and keep the waterer in a separate spot so the feed stays dry.

How to use it
Set the feeder up once, then keep it topped up:
- Start with the one-piece jar and ring, which are already joined for quick setup.
- Fill the jar with feed and put the lid on.
- Set the feeder on level ground where birds can reach the ring from several sides.
- Refill when the feed gets low, and keep the lid closed between fills.
- When you clean the coop, wash the jar and ring with soap and water, then dry them before you refill.
Good to know
- Keep the feeder and the waterer apart so water doesn't wet the feed.
- Brush out old feed before you refill. Stale feed is the easiest thing to skip and the first thing birds ignore.
- Carry the feeder by the handle and keep the lid on when you move it.
- Keep feed in a dry, sealed container nearby so the feeder always has a fresh supply to draw from.
A spare feeder is cheap insurance for the coop, so the flock never goes without a clean place to eat.
