A waterer that keeps itself supplied saves you a daily trip to the hose. This one uses a vacuum-sealing O-ring cap to create automatic water flow, so the water stays in the jar and comes down to the base as the birds drink.

The translucent, dent-proof plastic lets you see the level without opening it. The easy-fill jar snaps onto the base, so a refill takes a moment, and the rugged handle makes it easy to carry around the yard.

It's built as a durable unit for regular use, and it's made in the USA from heavy-duty plastic that stands up to a working yard.

Highlights

  • Automatic water flow from a vacuum-sealing cap
  • Translucent body shows the water level
  • Easy-fill jar snaps onto the base
  • Dent-proof, heavy-duty plastic
  • Rugged handle for carrying around the yard
  • Made in the USA

Why a jar waterer beats an open pan

An open pan gets scratched, stepped in and mixed with litter the minute birds walk past it. A jar-and-base waterer keeps the drinking water in one place, so the flock has a cleaner drink and you have less water to dump and refill.

Automatic flow covers a busy day. When the chores run long, a large jar keeps the flock supplied between visits instead of leaving them with an empty pan at dusk.

The visible level is the other half of the job. You can see how much is left from across the run and know when a refill is due, rather than finding an empty waterer when the birds are already thirsty.

Dent-proof plastic matters in a working poultry yard, where a waterer gets moved, knocked and set down on hard ground.

How to fill and set it up

  1. Fill the jar with clean water, then snap it onto the base.
  2. Set the waterer on level ground in a spot the birds reach easily.
  3. Check the level through the body and refill before it runs low.

Carry it by the rugged handle when you move it around the yard.

Good to know

  • Set it in shade where you can, since cooler water is more inviting on a hot afternoon.
  • In a cold snap, keep the waterer out of the wind and consider a heated base so the water doesn't freeze.
  • Scrub the base and the jar regularly, and let them dry before the next fill.
  • Replace the jar when the plastic cracks, since a split jar leaks onto the ground.
