Pur Mason wide-mouth flat lids with matching screw bands, twelve per box.
This box contains twelve flat canning lids with matching screw bands in the wide-mouth size. The flat lid provides the sealing surface, while the band holds it in place during the canning process. Use the set with preserving jars that have a wide-mouth opening. A lid that is the wrong diameter will not sit properly on the rim.
Compare the box label with the jars before preparing a batch. Wide-mouth openings are larger than regular-mouth jars and need matching hardware. The bands should also fit the same jar. If jars and lids are stored together, keeping the two mouth sizes in separate bins makes the right match easier to find.
Keep the box dry and look over the flat lids and bands before canning. Do not use a lid with a damaged sealing surface or a band with rust or deformation. Follow the current instructions supplied with the lids for heating and application. Use a new flat lid for each home-canning batch; bands can be reused when they remain in good condition.
Lids and bands are only part of a safe process. The recipe determines jar size, headspace and processing method. Follow the jar, lid and canner instructions along with current USDA or National Center for Home Food Preservation guidance. After processing, cool jars undisturbed and verify each seal before placing it in storage.
The twelve-count box supports a small batch or gives a household spare lids for the next canning session. Bands can stay with matching jars between uses, while unused lids should remain clean and dry in the box. If a jar rim has a chip, set that jar aside; new hardware cannot correct damage to the glass. Keep mouth sizes sorted in storage.
Compare lid diameter with the jar opening before purchase. Each set pairs one flat lid with one screw band. Keep unused sets in their box until the next batch, and use a lid only once for heat processing.
