More from Justin Boots

Wet mornings are the reason this boot exists. The Rush 8 inch Waterproof is built for days that start in wet grass and end on a greasy shop floor. The full grain leather upper takes brush, mud and barn grit, and the waterproof build helps keep your feet dry through a long morning at the wash rack or in the pen.

Inside, the Ortholite removable insert cushions every step. Ortholite inserts are made of open-cell polyurethane foam that is breathable, lightweight and flexible, and they pull out to wash. The rubber outsole is oil and slip resisting, so your footing holds on wet concrete. The boot is ASTM F2892 rated and carries electric hazard protection tested up to 18,000 volts.

  • Oil and slip resisting rubber outsole for wet concrete
  • Electric hazard protection tested up to 18,000 volts
  • ASTM F2892 rated
  • Square toe and cement construction

Why a waterproof work boot pays off

Feet that stay wet get cold, sore and blistered, and a boot that keeps water out changes the whole workday. Plain leather soaks up water over time, so a waterproof leather boot is the one to reach for on wet pastures, wash racks and spring rain.

Who it suits: the ranch hand who moves in and out of wet pens all day, the farm crew on a rainy week, and the shop worker who needs a boot that grips a greasy floor and sheds the water.

How to use it

Try them on late in the day, in the socks you will work in, and walk the length of the store. Your heel should stay put while your toes have room to spread across the square toe. Check the fit with the insert in place, since that is how you will wear them.

After a wet day, knock off the mud and manure, pull out the insert and let both air dry at room temperature. Put the insert back in once it is dry, so the boot is not holding moisture overnight.

Good to know

  • Pair them with work jeans or canvas pants long enough to break over the shaft, so the boot top stays covered and the pants stay clean.
  • Wear a thin liner sock under a heavier work sock, and try the boots on with the socks you plan to work in.
  • Condition the leather a few times a season to keep it from drying and cracking along the flex points.
  • Keep a spare insert so you are not waiting on laundry before a workday.
  • Let them dry at room temperature, never by a heater or in direct sun.
