For the cuts, scrapes and small abrasions horses and mules pick up, Scarlet Oil keeps the site from drying out while it works. Spray it directly on the wound, or use it under a clean bandage. It is a highly effective non-drying dressing aid for simple wounds, and the sprayer makes it easy to reach an awkward spot on a leg.
PCMX is the active ingredient, a germicidal and fungicidal agent that is non-irritating to skin tissue. It also stimulates growth of skin cells, so the skin has support while the site is cared for.
The sprayer is non-aerosol and economical, which makes it easy to keep on the barn shelf for the cuts that show up between rides.

Why choose a spray dressing
Cuts and scrapes on a horse need a clean start and a way to stay covered without a fuss. A spray reaches the site without a hand going into the wound, and a non-drying dressing keeps the area from drying out while it works. Pair it with good cleaning, and the spray becomes the simplest part of the routine.
Who it suits: trail horses and ranch mules, show barns where scrapes happen between classes, and anyone who keeps a first-aid shelf and wants one spray for simple wounds.

How to use it
Clean the area first, then spray directly at the site.
- Clean the affected area, clipping hair if necessary.
- Hold the container 4 to 6 inches from the animal.
- Direct the spray at the site to be treated.
- For an open wound, apply freely. Or wrap the site with a clean bandage after spraying.
- Treatment may be applied once or twice daily.
Good to know
- Clip hair around the wound so the spray reaches skin and the site stays cleaner.
- Hold the container 4 to 6 inches away so the spray lands where you aim it.
- For deep wounds, punctures or lameness, call your vet rather than relying on a spray.
- Keep a bottle on the barn shelf between rides, so the next scrape is covered.
