Barn wounds start small and get dirty fast. This spray flushes away debris from cuts, scrapes, rope burns and saddle wounds, and it keeps the wound area clean and moist. Its hypochlorous acid, at 0.013%, sits in a non-toxic, pH-balanced formula that needs no mixing or dilution and no rinsing.

It is safe to use around the mouth, nose, ears and eyes, and on animals of all ages. The formula has no steroids or antibiotics, and it will not stain clothes or furniture. It can also moisten a wound dressing when you need to cover the area.

Highlights

  • Flushes debris from wounds
  • Keeps the wound area clean and moist
  • No rinsing needed
  • Non-toxic and non-irritating
  • No steroids or antibiotics
  • Will not stain clothes or furniture

Why start with a cleaning spray

Cleaning is the step most barn wounds need first. Dirt, hair and debris left in a cut get in the way of a clean wound bed, so flushing the wound comes before any dressing. A spray like this is easy to carry in the tack box and quick to use when a horse comes in with a fresh cut after a ride.

Clean and moist is the standard goal for a wound, and this spray is built for that first step. For bigger injuries, call your veterinarian before you start.

Who it suits: the trail rider with a kit in the tack box, the show barn that wants a clean first-aid option on hand, and the family with horses, dogs and barn cats.

How to use it

Clip away the hair first so the spray reaches the skin, then follow these steps:

  1. Remove any excess hair from the wound area. Clip if necessary.
  2. Saturate the affected area, flushing away foreign debris.
  3. When a dressing is needed, saturate it and use it with Vetericyn Plus Antimicrobial Hydrogel for protection and moisture during healing.
  4. Repeat 3 to 4 times daily or as necessary.
  5. No rinsing is necessary.

Good to know

  • The spray has a slight chlorine odor, but it contains no bleach.
  • If a bottle freezes, it can thaw and still work, but watch for leaking or walls that have collapsed.
  • Do not pour it into another bottle, since the formula can be neutralized by a new container.
  • It tests free for competitive horses, because it contains no ingredients that would give a positive test for banned substances.
  • Apply the spray first and wait at least 60 seconds before using a fly repellent or any other product on the same spot.
