Padding and English bridle design

This English bridle has padding at the crown, browband and nose. It is intended for hunter-under-saddle use and comes with soft leather laced reins. The leather and padded contact areas give the bridle a traditional English look while keeping the construction clear: headpiece, browband, noseband, cheekpieces, bit attachments and reins are supplied together. The Full option is for a horse that needs a full-size fit. Check the horse’s current bridle fit before replacing tack, since head shape and adjustment range vary.

Set the fit before riding

Both cheeks adjust, so you can set each side to the horse rather than relying on a single adjustment point. Start with the bridle sitting evenly, with the browband clear of the ears and the noseband positioned without pinching. Attach the bit securely at both sides, then check that the cheekpieces and noseband lie flat. A bridle should not be used if the leather is twisted, a buckle is damaged, or the fit presses uncomfortably against the horse.

Reins and hardware

The included laced reins are 5/8 inch wide and 54 inches long. Their laced surface gives the hand a defined grip, while the paired reins connect directly to the bridle’s bit ends. Hook stud ends let the bit be removed without undoing a buckle. Leather keepers secure loose strap ends after adjustment. Stainless steel hardware resists rust in normal tack use, but it still needs inspection and cleaning after exposure to sweat, dirt or moisture.

Care between rides

Brush off arena dust and wipe the leather with a clean, slightly damp cloth after use. Let it dry naturally before storing; do not leave damp leather folded in a tack trunk. Use a leather cleaner or conditioner suited to bridle leather, following that product’s directions. Check stitching, buckles, hook studs, rein lacing and cheek adjustments regularly. Small cracks or loose stitching can worsen under tension, so set damaged tack aside for repair instead of riding in it. Store the bridle on a suitable hanger so the crown and reins are not sharply creased.
