Flies find the corners of a horse's face first, and a mask that shifts or holds heat gets rubbed off in the pasture by noon. This one is stretchy Lycra with binding around the edges, so it sits close and stays put through turnout, and the fine mesh over the eyes and ears keeps biting insects off while your horse still sees the fence line.

The fabric is Coolcore, a chemical-free cooling material that pulls sweat away from the body and speeds drying. Nothing in it washes out, so the cooling works the same next August as it did the first week. Lightweight, machine washable, and easy to keep on hand for the whole barn.

Highlights

  • Stretchy Lycra that follows the shape of your horse's head
  • Fine mesh over eyes and ears keeps flies off without blocking sight
  • Coolcore fabric moves sweat away and speeds drying
  • Chemical-free cooling that won't wash out or wear down
  • Bound edges for a close, secure fit
  • Machine washable when turnout gets muddy

Good to know

  • Wash it when it gets grimy. The cooling fabric is chemical-free, so it keeps working wash after wash.
  • Check the eye and ear mesh each time you pull it off. That is where a fly mask takes the most wear.
  • Keep a spare in the barn so a wet or muddy mask is never a reason to leave your horse bare on a bad fly day.
  • Pair it with a fly sheet and a good spray for turnout, then pull it off at night so the hair underneath can breathe.

Worth having in the barn before the first bad fly week.
