See what the rain delivered

A rain gauge answers a useful question after a shower: how much rain actually reached this part of the garden? The Classic Jumbo EZRead gauge is made to show that measurement in large, readable markings. It gives you a local reference to check before deciding what to water next. That is more useful for the spot you are tending than judging the amount of rain from how wet the driveway looks.

Large numbers you can check from a distance

The jumbo gauge has bright colors and large printed numbers. It is designed to be read from as far as 50 feet away, making it useful where you want to check the rain amount without walking directly up to the gauge. Choose a mounting position with a clear line of sight from the place where you expect to read it. The scale still needs to face that viewing position.

A tall body with a calibrated scale

The gauge measures 26 inches tall and records up to 5 inches of rainfall. The long body and specially calibrated markings make the collected amount easier to see. Read the rainfall scale itself when checking the measurement. The overall height of the gauge is not the amount of rain it holds. This distinction matters when choosing a gauge by its physical size rather than by its measuring range.

A funnel and a mounting bracket

The funnel is designed to keep debris from entering the gauge. An included mounting bracket gives you a way to position it in the garden. Before fastening the bracket, check that the gauge will be easy to reach for reading and emptying. Leave enough clearance to handle the gauge without working around a fence rail or a nearby plant. Look over the opening when you check it after rain.

Make readings easy to compare

Mount the gauge where you can keep using the same position for successive readings. Read the marked level after rain, record the amount if you are keeping a garden log and empty the gauge before the next period you want to measure. Use the same reading routine when comparing one rain event with another. Keep the funnel clear so collected debris does not interfere with the next measurement.
