Give chicks a warm, dry spot to rest and feed with a reflector lamp that aims where you need it. The scratch-resistant clamp and ball joint let you point the light at the brooder floor, the feeder or the waterer, and the 10-1/2 inch aluminum shade directs the heat down where the chicks are.
The socket is heat-resistant ceramic, and a double wire bulb guard covers the bulb. Those are the safety features you want around young birds. The 6-foot cord has polarized male prongs, a built-in hanger gives you a second way to hang the lamp, and the shade is rated for a bulb up to 300 W.

- Shade rated for bulbs up to 300 W
Why a reflector lamp suits a brooder
Chicks need warmth in their first weeks, and a reflector lamp gives you a focused heat source that is easy to position above the brooder. Aim it so one end of the brooder stays warm and the other end stays cooler, and the chicks can move to the spot they want. That gives them room to regulate their own comfort.
A reflector lamp is also a simple fix for a cold corner. The clamp holds it on the edge of a box or tote, the hanger hangs it from a beam, and the ball joint lets you change the angle without rehanging it.
It suits a backyard flock keeper starting chicks in the house, a garage or a barn, and a 4-H family with a brooder. The aluminum shade resists corrosion, so it holds up to damp barn air over the seasons.

How to use it
Hang it before the chicks arrive, so you can check the heat first.
- Clamp the lamp to the edge of the brooder or hang it from the built-in hanger, aimed over one end.
- Screw in a bulb rated up to 300 W. Bulbs are sold separately.
- Plug it in and watch the chicks. Chicks that crowd under the light are cold, and chicks that move to the far side are too warm, so raise or lower the lamp until they spread out.
- Adjust the height or angle with the ball joint to change the heat, and keep bedding and paper away from the bulb.
Good to know
- Keep the cord out of the water and out of reach of pecking chicks.
- Pair it with a clear heat lamp bulb from the same aisle, as long as the wattage stays at or under the 300 W rating.
- If you use the clamp, back it up with the built-in hanger or a chain, so the lamp can't slip down into the bedding.
The lamp runs hot, so give it room and check it every time you go in to refill the feed or water. Turn it off before you change the bulb.
