A round galvanized steel cage supports garden plants with three rings and three legs.

Give a young plant a framework

A tomato cage puts support around a plant instead of relying on a single stake beside it. This Panacea cage uses three horizontal rings carried by three legs. The open wire framework leaves room to reach the plant while providing support around its growth. It is useful when you want a simple cage to place in the garden as the plant develops, without building a support frame from separate pieces.

A compact cage for the garden bed

The cage stands 33 inches high with a top ring 12 inches across. Those measurements help you judge its fit beside neighboring plants and along the edge of a bed. The legs extend below the rings for placement in the soil. Look at the space around the plant before setting the cage, so the top ring can sit where you can still reach the planting area.

Galvanized steel wire

The all-metal cage has a galvanized finish for weather resistance. It supports small tomato plants and can also be used with peppers or eggplants. Other tall garden and flowering plants may benefit from the same ringed support. Choose it around the shape of the plant you are growing and the room available, rather than assuming every plant needs the same style of staking.

Place the support before growth gets in the way

It is easier to position a cage while the plant is small enough to fit within the rings. Set it around the plant with the legs clear of the main stem. Press the legs into the soil until the cage stands securely. Work evenly around the cage rather than pushing one side down so far that the framework leans toward the plant.

Keep the plant within reach

As growth develops, check how the branches meet the rings and keep access to the plant open. The wire framework lets you see where support is needed without covering the plant. At the end of the season, remove the cage carefully from the planting area and store it where the long legs will be easy to see. Keep its 33-inch height in mind when choosing a storage location beside other garden supports.
