A ground feeder earns its keep when filling it doesn't turn into a chore. The flip top opens wide, so you fill the trough and close it again without digging through the grass, and the snap-in hinge keeps the lid working for a long time.
Twenty-eight feeding holes, fourteen per side, let birds spread out at the trough instead of crowding one spot. High-density polypropylene is a tough plastic that hoses clean when the trough gets dirty.
At 20 inches long, 4.5 inches wide and 3 inches high, it sits low in the coop, the run or under the shed, right where your birds already gather.

Why a ground feeder suits a working flock
Chickens do most of their eating on the ground, so a feeder set low keeps the feed where birds are already scratching. A hanging feeder keeps feed out of the litter, but a ground feeder fits a flock that moves around the run all day, and younger birds find a low trough easier to use.
A lid that closes keeps rain and debris out of the feed, which means less waste to scoop and fresher feed in the trough between fillings.
It's built for poultry on the ground, in the run, the coop or under a shed, and it's easy to slide into a spot the flock already uses.

How to fill and place the feeder
- Set it on level ground where the flock already gathers.
- Lift the flip top, fill the trough level, and close the lid.
- Check that feed reaches every hole, so no bird is left waiting for a spot.
Good to know
- Rinse it out and let it dry in the sun between fillings, so feed doesn't cake in the corners.
- Keep it under cover, or bring it in during heavy rain, so the feed stays fresh.
- Set a waterer close by so birds have feed and water in one spot.
- Replace the feeder if the hinge cracks or the lid no longer closes flat.
