A light, citrus-scented cream for dry or cracked skin, with additional use for dog hot spots and sunburn irritation in animals.

A light cream for dry skin

Filly Cream moisturizes dry or cracked skin and leaves it feeling soft and smooth. Its light, creamy texture suits a focused skin-care job, rather than finishing a mane or adding shine to a coat. The citrus scent is noticeable, so consider whether that fragrance is a fit for the animal and the grooming area. Use this product when the concern is dry skin, not simply because an animal has an unexplained sore or patch.

Dog hot spots need attention

This cream is also used on dog hot spots. A hot spot is an inflamed, moist skin lesion that can grow quickly when a dog keeps licking or scratching. Fleas, allergies, infection or another itch can start the cycle. The cream is a topical skin-care option, but it does not identify or remove the trigger. A spot that is expanding, oozing, very painful or returning in the same place needs veterinary assessment. Keep the dog from aggravating the area while you arrange care, because more licking can enlarge a small lesion.

Sunburn relief is different from prevention

Filly Cream helps relieve pain and itching associated with sunburn in animals. That is after-exposure skin care, not sunscreen. Shade and reduced direct sun exposure address the source of a burn. In horses, ordinary sunburn often affects the muzzle or area around the eyes where hair is thin or skin is unpigmented. Inflamed skin across other white areas can resemble sunburn but may signal photosensitization, which can have a more serious cause. Get veterinary advice when the pattern is unusual, the burn is severe, or the skin is blistered or open.

When sun sensitivity may be more serious

A horse with suspected photosensitization may need more than a moisturizer. Full shade, or keeping the horse housed and turning it out only at night, can limit further light exposure while the cause is assessed. Keep damaged skin clean and protect it from flies. Photosensitization can progress beyond ordinary sunburn, so veterinary guidance matters when the reaction is widespread or severe.
