More from Weaver Leather

A wider carved leather style

This Weaver collar is the Carved Chestnut design, in the 1-inch-wide, 25-inch size. Its chestnut leather carries a carved floral pattern with black inlay. Light stitching traces the edges, and the smooth, darkened edge finish frames the tooling. The look is closer to Western tack than a plain everyday strap. Choose it for that finish and width; the decoration does not change how a collar should fit.

Measure the dog before choosing

The maker’s 25-inch option describes the collar size, not a guaranteed neck circumference. Measure around the dog’s neck where the collar will sit, then compare that number with the item’s actual buckle-hole range. The catalog does not give a hole-to-hole fit chart, so do not assume a full 25-inch neck will fit. With the collar fastened, check for comfortable clearance. The American Kennel Club recommends enough room to slip two fingers beneath a dog collar. Recheck after a haircut, coat change, or weight change.

Consider the leash setup too

A collar is a familiar choice for identification and ordinary leash handling, but it is not the best fit for every walking pattern. If a dog pulls hard or needs more body control, compare a harness before settling on a neck collar. The American Kennel Club notes that a harness distributes leash pressure across the body instead of concentrating it at the neck. That choice depends on the dog and the handler, not the carved finish. If you stay with a collar, check the fit again after activity and remove it if it catches, rubs, or shifts out of place.

The buckle is part of the design

An oblong center-bar buckle closes the strap. Its shape is a visible feature of the Carved Chestnut style, alongside the floral tooling and contrasting black inlay. Before each walk, look over the buckle and its attachment points, then check the stitching for pulled or broken thread. The collar’s appearance suits a dog whose gear already leans toward leather and Western styling. If you need a collar for wet conditions or frequent washing, compare leather with an easy-clean nylon option before choosing.

Material and construction

Weaver Leather Carved Chestnut dog collar. Maker item 06-1932-25. Leather, 1 in wide, 25 in size. Floral carving with black inlay, precise stitching, smoothed and darkened edges, oblong center-bar buckle. Exact item weight and packed dimensions are not verified.

Directions for use

Measure the dog’s neck where the collar will sit and compare with the actual adjustment range. After fastening, check that two fingers fit beneath the collar. Recheck fit as the coat or body changes. Inspect buckle attachment and stitching before use.

Cautions

Do not rely on the 25 in size alone as the dog’s neck measurement; the 2017 maker catalog does not provide the buckle-hole fit range. Stop using the collar if the strap, stitching, or buckle is damaged or cannot hold securely.
