Bindweed, thistle, smartweed, curly dock and wild onion are the weeds that come back year after year. This 2,4-D amine is water dilutable, and it carries less vapor risk than an ester. It is made for jobs where a nearby plant could be hurt by a more volatile product.

Highlights

  • Water-dilutable amine formula
  • Targets hard-to-kill weeds such as bindweed, thistle, smartweed, wild garlic, curly dock and wild onion
  • Labeled for ornamental turf, non-cropland and brush control
  • Works best on actively growing weeds in warm weather
Active ingredientDimethylamine salt of 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid 47.2%
Equivalent2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid 39.2%, 3.8 lb per gallon

Why choose an amine over an ester

The amine is the gentler choice when a susceptible plant sits near the spray line, such as a vegetable bed, a row of ornamentals or a vineyard edge. For a lawn, a ditch bank or a fence row, the amine does the job with less risk to the plants next door.

How to use it

Choose the rate for your site and the weed, and read the full directions before you mix. Lower rates work on young annual weeds, and the higher rates suit perennials, dry conditions and hard-to-control weeds.

  1. Ornamental turf, annual broadleaves: 0.75 to 1.16 fluid ounces per 1,000 square feet per application.
  2. Ornamental turf, biennial and perennial broadleaves: 1.16 fluid ounces per 1,000 square feet, treated near bud stage but before flowering.
  3. Ornamental turf spot treatment: 1/4 pint in 3 gallons of water, sprayed to thoroughly wet all foliage.
  4. Non-cropland: 1/2 gallon per acre in warm weather, when weeds are actively growing. Allow at least 30 days between applications, and no more than 2 a year.

Good to know

  • Do not apply at wind speeds above 15 mph. Spray only when no homes, water, wildlife habitat or nontarget crops lie within 250 feet downwind.
  • Small amounts of drift can injure cotton, okra, flowers, grapes, fruit trees, tomatoes, beans and tobacco.
  • Do not apply above 90 F, through any irrigation system, or in or near a greenhouse. Do not use on St. Augustinegrass.
  • Sales are restricted in AK, DC, HI, IA, MA, ME, MN, NH, NY, PR, RI, VI, VT and WA.
