A single 6.08 g syringe of DuraMectin ivermectin paste for oral use in horses. Dose by current body weight and follow the complete label.
A measured paste syringe for equine parasite care
DuraMectin Paste is an ivermectin anthelmintic and boticide supplied in one calibrated 6.08 g syringe. The label is for oral use in horses only. A full syringe contains enough paste to treat a horse weighing up to 1,250 lb at the labeled dose, with plunger markings that allow the amount to be set according to weight. That built-in measure makes the product easier to prepare than a loose powder, but it still depends on an accurate current weight. Use a scale or a reliable weight tape rather than estimating by appearance, and make sure the horse receives the whole amount set on the plunger. The FDA label gives a dose rate of 91 micrograms per pound, equivalent to 200 micrograms per kilogram. The product is a single treatment package, not a multi-dose bottle. The label lists adult large and small strongyles, certain larval stages, pinworms, ascarids, hairworms, large-mouth stomach worms, bots, lungworms, intestinal threadworms, summer sores, and dermatitis related to neck threadworm microfilariae. This spectrum explains why keepers may consider ivermectin when a parasite-control plan calls for those labeled targets. It does not make every horse parasite susceptible, and it does not replace veterinary diagnosis or a fecal monitoring plan. Parasites can develop resistance when products are repeatedly underdosed or used without regard to the herd's history. Discuss timing and product choice with a veterinarian, particularly for young horses, horses with a prior reaction, or animals showing illness. The package is specifically labeled for horses; do not give it to dogs, livestock, or other animals. The label says not to use the product in horses intended for human consumption. Keep the syringe and carton away from children, avoid eye contact, and wash hands after handling. Do not eat or smoke while using it. Store it at 68 to 77 degrees Fahrenheit, with labeled excursions permitted between 59 and 86 degrees. Dispose of the used syringe according to the label; ivermectin residues can harm aquatic organisms, so do not contaminate ground or surface water. Horses with heavy neck-threadworm infections may develop swelling or itching after treatment, and the label recommends veterinary attention if that occurs. For summer sores with extensive tissue change, other therapy may be needed. These details are useful when comparing products: check the species, target parasites, horse's weight, and any food-chain restrictions before purchase. The product's 6.08 g package size describes the paste in one syringe; it does not refer to a multi-syringe display or case.

Cautions
WARNING: Do not use in horses intended for human consumption. Not for use in humans. Keep this and all drugs out of reach of children. Refrain from smoking and eating when handling. Wash hands after use. Avoid contact with eyes. The Safety Data Sheet (SDS) contains more detailed occupational safety information. To report adverse reactions in users, to obtain more information, or to obtain a SDS, contact Durvet, Inc. at (800) 821-5570. PRECAUTIONS: DURAMECTIN Paste 1.87% has been formulated specifically for use in horses only . This product should not be used in other animal species as severe adverse reactions, including fatalities in dogs, may result. OTHER WARNINGS: Parasite resistance may develop to any dewormer, and has been reported for most classes of dewormers. Treatment with a dewormer used in conjunction with parasite management practices appropriate to the geographic area and the animal(s) to be treated may slow the development of parasite resistance. Fecal examinations or other diagnostic tests and parasite management history should be used to determine if the product is appropriate for the herd, prior to the use of any dewormer. Following the use of any dewormer, effectiveness of treatment should be monitored (for example, with the use of a fecal egg count reduction test or another appropriate method). A decrease in a drug's effectiveness over time as calculated by fecal egg count reduction tests may indicate the development of resistance to the dewormer administered. Your parasite management plan should be adjusted accordingly based on regular monitoring. Environmental Safety: Ivermectin and excreted ivermectin residues may adversely affect aquatic organisms. Do not contaminate ground or surface water. Dispose of the syringe in an approved landfill or by incineration. INFORMATION FOR HORSE OWNERS: Swelling and itching reactions after treatment with DURAMECTIN Paste 1.87% have occurred in horses carrying heavy infections of neck threadworm microfilariae ( Onchocerca sp.) microfilariae. These reactions were most likely the result of microfilariae dying in large numbers. Symptomatic treatment may be advisable. Consult your veterinarian should any such reactions occur. Healing of summer sores involving extensive tissue changes may require other appropriate therapy in conjunction with treatment with DURAMECTIN Paste 1.87%. Reinfection, and measures for its prevention, should also be considered. Consult your veterinarian if the condition does not improve.
