Hi-Yield Bone & Blood Meal 6-7-0

Hi-Yield Bone & Blood Meal combines nitrogen and phosphate in one granular soil amendment for flowers, shrubs, bulbs and vegetable gardens. Its 6-7-0 analysis supplies nitrogen and available phosphate without potassium. That makes it useful when a planting plan calls for those nutrients together, but it is not a complete fertilizer for every bed.

For a new planting, mix the measured amount into soil around the roots or through the bed before setting plants. The directions separate individual plants, established shrubs and bulbs, and vegetable rows because the planting area and timing change the rate. Water after application. For established roses and shrubs, the directions place applications around early spring growth and after blooms pass. Bulbs have their own schedule around planting and flowering.

Vegetable beds need a measured approach. Phosphorus moves slowly through soil, and Florida soils can already contain enough of it. A soil test helps show whether adding more phosphate is useful. If the test calls for nitrogen but not phosphorus, this 6-7-0 blend may not match that need. If both nutrients are part of the plan, its combined analysis can simplify a preplant amendment without pretending it replaces every part of a garden fertility program.

Keep the granules in the root zone by mixing them with the soil where the new roots will grow. Avoid leaving concentrated material against stems or foliage. Use the specified amount for the bed or planting hole, then water it in. For a side-dress on vegetables, work the product into the surface soil and water thoroughly rather than leaving granules exposed along the row.

Bone & Blood Meal suits planting work where its nitrogen and phosphate are wanted together. Check the soil before adding phosphorus, then choose the directions for the crop and planting stage. That small check can prevent adding a nutrient the bed already has in adequate supply.
