Hi-Yield Soil Sulfur is a granular elemental-sulfur amendment for soils that are too alkaline for the plants growing there. It is intended for lawns, vegetables and acid-loving ornamentals. It is not a routine feed for every bed. Start with a soil test and the plant’s preferred pH, then use sulfur only where the result supports an adjustment.

In soil, bacteria convert elemental sulfur into forms that lower pH. That process takes time, so a treated area will not change overnight. The product directions say the full effect may take six to eight weeks. Work the granules into the soil for the area you need to amend. This places the material in contact with soil rather than leaving it scattered on plant foliage.

Florida soils vary. Some are naturally alkaline because of limestone or other calcium-rich material. In those soils, lowering pH can be difficult and may not be permanent. Adding more product is not automatically the answer. A soil test, the target pH and the kind of soil all matter. If the site naturally resists acidification, a plant suited to the existing soil may be the more dependable choice.

Use the product rate as an area measurement, not a handful estimate. Mark the bed or lawn section, calculate the square footage and distribute the granules evenly before mixing them into the soil. The label does not recommend container-grown plants, where a small volume of mix can react differently from an open bed. Keep the product for in-ground use on the listed plant groups.

Soil Sulfur works best as part of a measured soil plan. It supplies sulfur and helps create more acidic conditions, but it does not replace a test or guarantee a permanent pH change. Check the result after application before making another adjustment. That keeps the next step tied to what the soil needs, not to guesswork.
