Cattle work goes faster when parasite control fits into one pass through the chute. This pour-on treats and controls gastrointestinal roundworms, lungworms, grubs, sucking and biting lice and sarcoptic mange mites, and it adds up to 28 days of horn fly control.

The application is low volume, so there is less time in the chute. Each milliliter holds 5 mg of ivermectin, and the product is FDA approved and equivalent to the pioneer product. It's a practical pick for a cattle operation that wants broad coverage of internal and external parasites in one step.

Highlights

  • Treats and controls gastrointestinal roundworms, lungworms and grubs
  • Controls sucking and biting lice, horn flies and sarcoptic mange mites
  • Up to 28 days of horn fly control
  • Low-volume pour-on application
  • 5 mg of ivermectin per mL
  • FDA approved and equivalent to the pioneer product

Why choose a pour-on for cattle

A pour-on goes along the topline, so one pass down the back covers the animal without a needle and without a second handling step. That matters when a herd needs a parasite plan on the same day as vaccines, weigh-ins or a fresh round of chute work. The job is quicker when the cattle are already in the chute.

Internal parasites such as roundworms and lungworms work quietly. A cow can carry a load of worms and look fine until it starts to lose condition. Grubs and lice show up in the hair, where you can see the damage, and horn flies cluster on the back and sides in warm months. Pick this for a cow-calf operation with a working chute, a small herd of steers, or a pasture where horn flies arrive every summer.

How to use it

The dose rate is 1 mL for each 22 lb of body weight. Weigh or tape each animal first so the dose matches a current body weight, and do not underdose.

  1. Run the cattle through the chute so the topline is easy to reach.
  2. Apply the dose along the topline in a narrow strip extending from the withers to the tailhead.
  3. Do not treat when the hair or hide is wet, or when rain is expected to wet the cattle within six hours after treatment.
  4. Keep treated cattle out of lakes, streams and ponds for at least six hours after treatment.

Good to know

  • Up to 28 days of horn fly control lines up with a fly program, so start before the flies build up in the herd.
  • Ask your veterinarian to set a parasite plan, including when to treat and whether a fecal egg count should come first. A count shows what your herd carries and helps you choose the right product.
  • Write the treatment date on your herd records, so no one has to guess when an animal was last treated.
