Some livestock work happens up close, in a tight chute, a wet pen or a trailer where a long-handled tool gets in the way. The Hot-Shot Power-Mite is built for that moment. It's a handheld prod that fits in a pocket and stays within reach when you need it.
The high-impact plastic case is moisture resistant, so it works on wet animals without fuss. The Power-Mite comes with two 9-volt alkaline batteries and a latigo carrying strap, so it's ready to clip on and go. It's designed for close-in work and ideal for veterinary visits, and it's small enough for a tool belt or saddlebag.

Why choose a handheld prod
A handheld prod is the tool for work at arm's length. A long stick is fine in an open lot, but in a narrow alley or a loading chute you need something short enough to use without swinging into a gate or a post. A compact prod lets you place the contact exactly where you need it, with less swing and less chance of a missed move.
Moisture matters on a working farm. Mud, rain, sweat and wash-down water are everyday things, and a prod with a moisture-resistant case is built to take them in stride. That's why a pocket-size model with a plastic case is handy around a barn that sees wet weather.
It suits a veterinary visit, a handler who works close to the animals, or a homestead with a few head to manage. Keep fresh batteries in it, and it will be ready on the day you need it.

How to use it
Set the prod up before it's needed, and treat it as the working tool it is:
- Install the two 9-volt alkaline batteries before first use, and check battery life at the start of each season.
- Clip the latigo strap to a belt loop or saddle rigging so the prod is always in reach.
- Keep the case dry after wet work, and wipe off manure and mud so the grip stays clean.
- Use the prod only where good livestock handling practice calls for it, and keep it away from the head and face.
- Take the batteries out if the prod will sit unused for a long stretch.
Good to know
- The leather holster is sold separately as item PMH, and it's a good pairing if you carry the prod on your belt all day.
- Pair it with a sturdy handling stick or gate panel for the big jobs, and keep this one for close work.
- Replace the 9-volt batteries when the prod's pulse weakens, rather than finding a dead prod on the day you need it.
- Keep a spare set of batteries in the truck or the tack room.
