For ongoing parasite management, Strongid C 2X is a Type C medicated feed for horses. It is built for owners who want parasite control in the daily routine, not only on a once-a-season deworming day.
It is indicated to prevent Strongylus vulgaris larval infestations and to control adult large strongyles, adult and fourth stage larvae of small strongyles, pinworms and ascarids. A steady feeding routine keeps that control going between the bigger deworming days, and it fits the same program your vet sets up for the rest of the barn.

Why feed a medicated ration
Some owners want a deworming plan that does not depend on remembering one date. A medicated feed puts the product into the routine at every meal, so the schedule is the same every day. It is also a good fit for a horse that is hard to dose with paste, because the medication goes in with the grain the horse already eats.
Feeding is simple to plan and easy to log. A steady routine is easy for a barn helper to follow, which matters on a farm with more than one set of hands. Write the plan down and go over it with your vet at the yearly check.

How to use it
Feed it every day, top-dressed on the horse's daily grain ration, for the period the horse is at risk of exposure to internal parasites.
- Keep the medicated feed sealed and dry, in a bin that only the horses can reach.
- Weigh or tape the horse, measure the amount printed on the pail for that weight, and top-dress it on the grain ration.
- Feed at the same time each day, so no meal gets missed.
- Log each feeding in the barn book.
- Ask your vet to check the plan against a fecal egg count.
Good to know
- Medicated feed only works when the horse eats the full ration. If a horse goes off feed, call your vet.
- A fecal egg count shows whether the program is working, so pair the feed with one.
- Review the plan with your vet each spring and fall, when worm pressure changes with the weather.
- Daily use in the last 30 days of gestation is a safe, effective way to reduce a foal's exposure to parasites.
