TeeJet's blue 8079-PP-50 tip strainer has a 50-mesh stainless-steel screen in a polypropylene body.

Filter at the spray tip

The TeeJet 8079-PP-50 sits in a compatible nozzle assembly before the spray tip. Its stainless-steel screen filters debris that could clog or damage the tip orifice. The body is polypropylene, and this model's 50-mesh screen is identified by the current blue color code. Match the model and mesh to the sprayer's nozzle body before replacing a screen; similar-looking strainers may use a different mesh count, material or check-valve arrangement.

Choose mesh to suit the nozzle setup

Standard tip strainers are available in several screen sizes. A 50-mesh screen is a middle choice between coarser 24-mesh and finer 100-mesh options. The correct selection depends on the nozzle, spray material and system directions. A finer screen is not automatically better if the equipment calls for a different strainer or if the liquid carries material that can load the screen quickly. Keep the old model number or a clear photo at hand when matching a replacement.

Check the assembly before ordering

This is a tip strainer, not a complete nozzle, cap or spray tip. It belongs in the nozzle assembly specified for the 8079 type. Confirm the body style and available space behind the nozzle cap, then compare the mesh count with the sprayer manual or parts drawing. The related parts are distinct: a standard strainer filters without a built-in pressure check valve, while a strainer-and-check-valve model is a separate part. Select the latter only when the equipment calls for that feature.

Inspect a strainer when flow changes

A plugged nozzle can have several causes, and the screen is one place to inspect when spray output changes. Shut the sprayer down and follow its pressure-release procedure before opening the nozzle assembly. Remove the strainer carefully so debris does not fall into the line. Clean it using the equipment manufacturer's instructions and check the mesh for damage before reinstalling. Replace a distorted or torn screen rather than relying on it to catch particles. The screen protects the small spray-tip opening, where a blockage can affect an entire nozzle.

Keep the current color code in mind

Older manuals and parts photos may show this model in red. The current 50-mesh color code is blue, as shown on model 8079-PP-50. Use the printed model code rather than color alone when matching a spare part, especially if the existing sprayer has older parts. The blue body, stainless screen and 50-mesh designation identify this version. Keeping a spare strainer with nozzle parts can make a field repair easier, but the replacement still has to match the nozzle assembly and mesh selected for the machine.
