Allow room for animals to approach and for a hose, bucket or other fill method.

Think through the water supply

Capacity is only part of a watering setup. For livestock, estimate how many animals may drink at once and whether the supply can refill the tank fast enough after that group arrives. A stored volume helps buffer demand, while a slow inlet can still leave the tank low during peak use. If you connect a hose or supply line, arrange a reliable shutoff and watch the fill level. This model has no built-in drain plug or included hardware. It is not the right choice when the job depends on quickly draining through a factory fitting.

Place it where the ground can handle traffic

A full tank is heavy and should sit on a level, stable surface. Remove sharp rocks or debris from underneath, then direct rainwater and spilled water away from the site. Livestock tend to wear down the ground around a regular watering point. Gravel or another draining hard surface can help keep the approach from turning muddy and gives animals more reliable footing. Keep the fill line protected from hooves and vehicle traffic. If the tub is moved between paddocks, secure the water line in a way that can be disconnected without leaving a trip hazard.

The KMB101 uses recycled LDPE and has a round, impact-resistant body with smooth edges. The recycled LDPE is resistant to heat, cold and ultraviolet exposure, and it does not rust like a steel tank. Those properties suit many outdoor farm uses, though they do not make the tub immune to damage. Inspect it for cracks after impacts or hard freezing. Water expands as it freezes, so drain or protect a mostly full tank before severe freezing conditions. Allow roughly 1 to 1.5 inches of variation in the outside measurement when checking fit. Confirm the planned fill level in person where exact water volume matters.
