Give fruit trees a zinc treatment that fits the job at hand. This granular formula goes on as a foliage spray or gets worked into the soil, and it's made to prevent and correct Rosette on pecan trees. It also provides a source of zinc for fruit trees, so you can match the treatment to what the tree needs.
Zinc is a micronutrient, so trees use it in small amounts, but they need it to grow well. A shortage can cause misshapen fruit, and on pecans it shows up as Rosette. Planning ahead beats chasing a bad crop, so keep the application rates and timing close when you plan your tree care.

Why zinc matters for fruit trees
A tree short on zinc can look fine for a while and then show it in its fruit and its new growth. Misshapen fruit and small, bunched leaves are the signs to watch for. Zinc sulfate puts zinc back where the tree can use it, so the fix goes right at the problem.
Pecan growers and home orchard owners with a few trees will find this useful. Use the foliage spray after pollination, when the tips of the nutlets turn brown, and the soil treatment when you want the zinc worked into the root zone. The two routes fit different schedules, so choose the one that matches the trees you have.

How to use it
Choose the application method and follow its rate and timing:
- Foliage spray: Mix 1 tablespoon per 3 gallons of water or 1 lb. per 50 gallons of water.
- Make the first foliage application after pollination, when the tip of the nutlets turns brown. Make 2 more applications at 3 to 4 week intervals.
- Soil treatment: Apply broadcast from the trunk to the dripline of the tree.
- For trees up to 7 inches in diameter, apply 1 3/4 lbs. per inch of diameter. For trees over 7 inches in diameter, apply 3 1/2 lbs. per inch of diameter.
- Work the product into the soil to keep it from washing away.
Good to know
- Not intended or recommended for container-grown plants, so keep it for trees in the ground.
- Keep a sprayer clean and mix fresh solution for each foliage application.
- Keep the application rates handy when the trees start to leaf out.
- Store it dry and out of reach of children.
