Hi-Yield Dormant Spray

Hi-Yield Dormant Spray is a mineral-oil concentrate for scale and other listed insect pests on ornamentals, shrubs, shade trees and fruit trees. It is a fit for planned tree and landscape care when the target pest and plant are both covered by the directions. The oil coats the treatment surface, so careful coverage matters more than spraying quickly across the canopy.

Use it during the dormant season for the fruit-tree treatments named in the directions. That timing places the spray before bud swell, when the tree is not carrying tender new growth. For ornamentals, the product has a separate dilution rate and application section. The two rates are not interchangeable. Identify the plant and pest first, then measure the water and concentrate for that use.

Scale insects often sit on stems, branches or the undersides of leaves. Mites and other listed pests occupy different parts of a plant. Walk the tree or shrub before mixing, look for the affected growth, and plan a pass that reaches the intended surfaces. A missed branch can leave pests untouched, while a careless heavy spray can run off the foliage and soil. Work methodically and follow the separate directions for each labeled plant group.

Weather and plant sensitivity matter with oil sprays. Apply in the cooler part of the day and avoid treating midday when temperatures are high. Test a small portion of a sensitive plant before treating it all. The product can injure some houseplants, including ivy and ferns. It also cannot be mixed with sulfur-containing products. Keep the treatment on the named plants and away from storm drains, ditches and surface water.

This is a concentrate for measured tree and shrub work, not a ready-to-use foliage spray. Keep the original container available while preparing the mix, and use the matching directions for ornamentals or fruit trees. A planned dormant-season treatment can fit pruning and orchard cleanup, while the tree is still before bud swell and the listed pests can be reached directly.
