A 32 oz concentrate bottle of Lonarch, a contact herbicide for labeled brush, weed and grass control. The product must wet the target foliage and can injure desirable green plants it touches.

A contact spray for unwanted growth

Lonarch is a contact, non-selective herbicide. It treats foliage it reaches, so spray can injure desirable plants wherever it lands. Use it for labeled spot or burndown work around hard edges, fence lines and other listed areas where the target can be reached without wetting plants you want to keep. It does not move through the plant or soil, and it does not control seeds before they germinate. Established deep-rooted weeds or grasses may need repeat treatment if the label allows it.

Mix for the foliage in front of you

The maker's standard mix is 4 fluid ounces of concentrate per gallon of water for most weeds and grasses. Denser, waxier or woodier vegetation may call for a stronger mix. Follow the exact label rate for the target and use site. When using a handheld sprayer, cover the foliage thoroughly. The label requires uniform coverage and says the plant must be saturated for best results. A shielded sprayer can help keep spray off nearby plants.

Choose the application method carefully

The label describes handheld pump sprayers, pressure sprayers and boom equipment. For boom applications, spray volume depends on vegetation height and density: it gives separate carrier-volume guidance for weeds up to 6 inches, vegetation 6 to 18 inches tall, and brush up to 5 feet. Those figures describe mixed spray volume per acre, not concentrate amount. Keep them distinct when calibrating equipment. If the weeds are irregularly spaced, a carefully aimed spot spray may avoid unnecessary contact with nearby plants. Warm, sunny conditions are preferred for results.

Know what the concentrate does

The label identifies sodium lauryl sulfate as the active ingredient and describes contact control of annual and perennial broadleaf and grass weeds. This is a concentrate, not ready-to-use spray. Measure it into water according to the current label before application. The 32 oz bottle is a retail package for mixing smaller batches; it does not set the amount to apply to any particular area.

Protect the plants and the applicator

Keep Lonarch off any green plant parts you want to preserve. Wear protective eyewear and gloves while handling the concentrate, avoid eye contact, and wash hands after handling. The label provides first aid for eye or skin exposure. Read the current maker label before mixing, and follow its listed sites, weed coverage directions and precautions.

Lonarch is a contact, non-selective herbicide. Do not allow spray to contact green parts of desirable plants. Complete, uniform coverage is required; target vegetation must be saturated. Best results occur in warm, sunny conditions. It does not move through plants or soil and does not control germinating weed seeds. Some deep-rooted perennials and grasses may require more than one application.

Cautions

WARNING. Keep out of reach of children. The current label says not to take the product internally, avoid eye contact, and recommends protective eyewear and gloves while handling. Wash hands before eating, drinking, chewing gum, using tobacco or using the toilet. First aid: For eye contact, rinse slowly and gently with water for 10-15 minutes. Remove contact lenses after the first 5 minutes and continue rinsing. Call a physician or seek other medical attention. The product can cause minor skin irritation if not removed by washing; wash contacted skin with water. The maker safety data sheet advises storing in the original container in a cool, dry place, away from children, pets, food and drinks. Follow local, state and federal requirements for disposal of contents and container.
