Quilt Xcel is a 2.5-gallon crop fungicide with azoxystrobin and propiconazole. Match the crop, target disease and timing to the current label before use.

Preventive and curative disease control

Quilt Xcel is a foliar fungicide concentrate for crop diseases named on its current directions. It combines azoxystrobin and propiconazole, two active ingredients with different fungicide groups. It provides broad-spectrum preventive and curative control, with systemic movement through the plant. Consider it when the crop and target disease appear together in the product directions. The 2.5-gallon jug is concentrate, so the treatment plan must come from the specific crop directions.

Choose the use by crop and disease

The current label separates the job into crop, target disease, growth timing and application method. Each row can set its own rate, spray interval, maximum number of applications, preharvest interval and other limits. Those details matter together. A foliar spray on one crop does not establish a use on a different crop, and a disease appearing on a label does not mean the same rate is right across host plants. Confirm crop and disease before deciding whether this chemistry belongs in the program. The listed directions also call for thorough coverage, while avoiding overlap that could injure the crop.

Build timing around field conditions

Disease management starts before the sprayer leaves the shed. Scouting, crop history, susceptible varieties, weather and the stage of crop growth all help explain whether disease pressure is building. Quilt Xcel can be timed with local disease forecasts, but a forecast is only one input for resistance management. Cultural practices, crop rotation, host resistance and biological controls can reduce reliance on repeated fungicide sprays. That context helps a grower decide whether an application is warranted and when another approach should take priority.

Keep the next spray effective

Azoxystrobin is Group 11 and propiconazole is Group 3. Repeating the same groups can select for fungal populations that are harder to control. Rotate with a different group that controls the same pathogen, while observing the crop-specific limits on consecutive and seasonal Group 11 use. Record the chemistry applied in each field, then compare it with the next crop-table decision. Do not use this product in nurseries, greenhouses or landscape plantings. Prevent drift toward apple trees; even trace exposure can injure sensitive apples and crabapples. The worker re-entry interval is 12 hours where the Worker Protection Standard applies. Florida sugarcane directions are limited to six named counties.

Directions for use

DIRECTIONS FOR USE

It is a violation of federal law to use this product in a manner inconsistent with its labeling. FAILURE TO FOLLOW THE USE DIRECTIONS AND PRECAUTIONS ON THIS LABEL MAY RESULT IN CROP INJURY OR POOR DISEASE CONTROL AND/OR ILLEGAL RESIDUES. Do not apply this product in a way that will contact workers or other persons, either directly or through drift. Only protected handlers may be in the area during application. For any requirements specific to your state or tribe, consult the agency responsible for pesticide regulation.

AGRICULTURAL USE REQUIREMENTS; Use this product only in accordance with its labeling and with the Worker Protection Standard, 40 CFR part 170. This Standard contains requirements for the protection of agricultural workers on farms, forests, nurseries, and greenhouses, and handlers of agricultural pesticides. It contains requirements for training, decontamination, notification, and emergency assistance. It also contains specific instructions and exceptions pertaining to the statements on this label about personal protective equipment (PPE), notification to workers, and restricted-entry interval. The requirements in this box only apply to uses of this product that are covered by the Worker Protection Standard. Do not enter or allow worker entry into treated areas during the restricted-entry interval (REI) of 12 hours. PPE required for early entry to treated areas that is permitted under the Worker Protection Standard and that involves contact with anything that has been treated, such as plants, soil or water is: protective eyewear; coveralls; chemical-resistant gloves made of any waterproof material; shoes plus socks.

PRODUCT USE RESTRICTIONS; DO NOT use in nurseries, greenhouses or landscape plantings. DO NOT spray Quilt Xcel Fungicide where spray drift may reach apple trees. DO NOT use spray equipment which has been previously used to apply Quilt Xcel Fungicide to spray apple trees. Even trace amounts can cause unacceptable phytotoxicity to certain apple and crabapple varieties.

PRODUCT USE INSTRUCTIONS; Application: Thorough coverage is necessary to provide good disease control. Make up no more spray solution than is needed for application. Avoid spray overlap, as crop injury may occur. Adjuvants: For some uses on this label, a spreading/penetrating type adjuvant such as a non-ionic surfactant, crop oil concentrate, or blend may be added at the manufacturer’s specified rates. Adjuvants that contain some form of silicone can contribute to phytotoxicity. When an adjuvant is used with this product, the use of an adjuvant that meets the standards of the Chemical Producers and Distributors Association (CPDA) adjuvant certification program is recommended.

Integrated Pest Management; Quilt Xcel Fungicide should be integrated into an overall disease and pest management strategy whenever the use of a fungicide is required. Cultural practices known to reduce disease development should be followed. The SPECIFIC USE DIRECTIONS section in this label identifies specific IPM recommendations for each crop. Consult your local agricultural authorities for additional IPM strategies established for your area. Quilt Xcel Fungicide may be used in state agricultural extension advisory (disease forecasting) programs which recommend application timing based on environmental factors favorable for disease development. Adopt an integrated disease management program for fungicide use that includes scouting, uses historical information related to pesticide use, and crop rotation, and which considers host plant resistance, impact of environmental conditions on disease development, disease thresholds, as well as cultural, biological and other chemical control practices. Where possible, make use of predictive disease models to effectively time fungicide applications. Note that using predictive models alone is not sufficient to manage resistance. Monitor treated fungal populations for resistance development. Contact your local extension specialist or certified crop advisor for any additional pesticide resistance-management and/or IPM recommendations for specific crops and pathogens.

For the current Florida sugarcane supplemental directions, use is limited to Glades, Hendry, Highlands, Martin, Okeechobee and Palm Beach counties and remains subject to the supplemental label’s crop, timing and application restrictions.

Consult the applicable crop table for the permitted crop, target disease, rate, method, timing, intervals, maximum applications, annual active-ingredient limits, preharvest interval, grazing/feed limits and any crop-specific restrictions.
