Two tubes renew the matching trap

RESCUE! Fruit Fly Trap Refill contains two tubes of food-based liquid attractant. Both tubes are used together for the stated 30-day supply in the compatible RESCUE! Fruit Fly Trap. The refill replaces the lure while keeping the trap body in service. It is useful when the body is intact and the attraction component needs renewing, rather than buying another complete capture unit. One tube is not described as a separate 30-day refill.

The liquid and funnel work together

Installation consists of opening both tubes, pouring their contents into the trap's bottom cup and replacing the top. No separate dilution step is specified. The food-based liquid attracts fruit flies, and the funnel-shaped openings help retain insects that enter. RESCUE! describes captured flies drowning in the liquid. That is a contained capture process, rather than an insecticide spray dispersed across a room or applied to the surrounding food-preparation surfaces.

Identify the small fly before choosing a lure

Fruit flies commonly gather around ripe or fermenting produce, food scraps and fermenting liquids. University Extension distinguishes them from fungus gnats associated with houseplant soil and drain flies developing in moist organic material around drains. Seeing a small fly is therefore only the starting point. Where it congregates and what supports its development help determine whether a fruit-fly attractant fits the problem. This refill is not a treatment for insects developing in potting soil or drain film.

Put the capture point near the activity

RESCUE! describes indoor placement on a stable counter, table or windowsill close to the problem, and says the food-based lure is safe around food, pets and children. A location near fruit-fly activity lets adults encounter the attractant. The unit is not intended to scent an entire building from a distant room. Its role is a localized capture point using the same compatible trap body through successive refill periods.

Trapping adults and removing the source

Adults can continue appearing while fermenting material remains available for breeding. Extension guidance pairs trapping with removing or cleaning those sources, including overripe produce and food residues. These actions address different parts of the problem: the trap catches adults already moving around, while source removal reduces the material supporting another generation. Renewing the lure helps maintain the capture point, but the 30-day supply is a service period rather than a promise that an infestation will be eliminated in that time.

Directions for use

Includes two tubes of attractant, used together to last 30 days. Simply cut open the tubes and add the liquid to the trap’s bottom cup. Replace the top and it’s ready to catch fruit flies.
