A pesticide only works where the spray lands and stays. Surf-Ac 820 helps each droplet wet and spread across the leaf instead of sitting up in beads. The aim is more even coverage from the same tank, and every spray pass costs you water, chemical and fuel.
It is a general-purpose non-ionic surfactant that can go into the tank with most insecticides, fungicides, herbicides, acaricides and wettable powders. Anti-foaming agents keep an agitated tank from building a head of foam, so you are spraying instead of waiting for bubbles to drop.
Highlights
- 80% non-ionic surfactant for strong wetting and spreading
- Spreads droplets for more uniform distribution
- Contains anti-foaming agents for a steadier tank
- Works with most insecticides, fungicides and herbicides

Why a surfactant belongs in the tank
Waxy leaves, dusty leaves and fuzzy leaves all shed water. A non-ionic surfactant lowers the surface tension of the droplet, so the spray spreads out and stays put. That is why it earns a spot on the shelf beside the chemical, whether you are spraying a pasture, a fence line or a dense canopy.
It suits a grower who runs several products through one sprayer, and a homeowner who sprays pasture or ornamentals a few times a season. Any time a tank mix has to cover well, a quality surfactant is worth the small cost it adds.
How to use it
Start with the pesticide's own directions. A surfactant is an add-on, and the product in the tank decides whether one is needed and how much. When two products are mixed, follow the more restrictive directions of the two.
- For herbicide sprays, the surfactant rate is 1 to 2 pints per 100 gallons of spray mix, unless the pesticide's directions call for something different.
- For wettable powders and water-soluble products, add the surfactant to the water before the pesticide. For emulsifiable products, add it after a good emulsion forms.
- Shake well and recirculate the contents before use.
Good to know
- Store it in the original container, closed, and keep water out of the jug.
- Triple rinse empty containers during mixing and loading, and recycle them where you can.
- Wear eye and face protection, protective gloves and protective clothing when you handle the concentrate.
- Keep spray out of water. This surfactant is not for aquatic use.
