Weed-Out with Crabgrass Killer gets rid of the tough weeds, roots and all. It controls grassy and broadleaf weeds in one easy step, from crabgrass, barnyardgrass and foxtail to dandelion, chickweed, dollarweed, ground ivy and poison ivy.

It is built for the established lawn, and it is rainproof in one hour, so a passing shower will not wash the work away. Its three active ingredients, 2,4-D, quinclorac and dicamba, work on different weeds, which is why one spray covers so much of the weed list.

Why choose one spray for crabgrass and broadleaves

Most lawn weeds fall into two camps. Crabgrass and foxtail are grasses and need a different tool than dandelion, plantain or clover. A combination product covers both camps in one trip across the lawn, which saves a second product and a second tank to clean out.

Common jobs include knocking back crabgrass in spring while it is still under three or four inches tall, clearing dandelions and plantain before they set seed, and cleaning up chickweed and henbit in the fall. It suits a homeowner with an established lawn of Bermudagrass, zoysiagrass, tall fescue or ryegrass.

How to use it

  1. Spot treatment: 2.5 fluid ounces (5 tablespoons) in 1 gallon of water treats 400 square feet.
  2. Entire lawn with a pump sprayer: 6.4 fluid ounces in 0.5 to 1 gallon of water per 1,000 square feet, in a coarse pattern.
  3. Entire lawn with a hose-end sprayer: 6.4 fluid ounces per 1,000 square feet. Follow your sprayer's mixing method.
  4. No more than two applications a year, at least 21 days apart. Spray when air temperatures are below 90 F.
  5. Delay mowing 2 days before and until 2 days after. Do not water within 24 hours of treatment.

Good to know

  • Do not use clippings from treated lawns as mulch or compost around flowers, trees, or in a vegetable garden.
  • Hi-Yield Spreader Sticker helps the spray stick and spread on the leaves.
  • Sales are restricted in AK, CA, DE, HI, NY, PR and VI. Keep the container from freezing, and store it locked away from children and pets.

On bermudagrass it can cause temporary yellowing, with full recovery expected. Do not apply to bermudagrass when daytime temperatures exceed 85 F.
